Born on 27 July 1972 in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.
Launched on 10 October 2007 on the Soyuz TMA-11 spacecraft on his first and only space mission. The commander of the crew was Yuri Ivanovich Malenchenko, Flight Engineer was Peggy Whitson. They spent 10 days in space, 9 of them on the ISS. On the station, Sheikh Muzafar conducted experiments for EKA and the Malaysian national programme. In particular, he studied the effects of microgravity on eye and head coordination, vestibular adaptation, changes in cancer cells and protein crystallisation in space.
On 21 October 2007 at 10:36 UTC, the Soyuz TMA-10 re-entry module carrying Sheikh Muzafar and the 15th ISS Expedition crew of Oleg Kotov and Fyodor Yurchikhin landed north of the city of Arkalyk (Kazakhstan). The landing was abnormal; after the parachute opened, the ship was put on a ballistic descent trajectory. The astronaut's total flight time was 10 days 20 hours 14 minutes.
